Where to stay

Lincolnshire is steeped in history from the Magna Carta to Britain’s first spymaster. The Grange Spa is situated at the far end of the flat fenlands near the moderately hilly vales. We have picked out our favourite places to stay, which can be viewed on this page. Suppose you are looking for an idyllic camping spot. In that case, we love Low Farm Park for its family-friendly feel and fantastic customer service. There are some incredibly quirky hotels; the Petwood Hotel was the home of the famous Dambusters, the 617 squadron, and the 800-year-old Angel and Royal is another fabulous hotel. Emma and I are big fans of the Old Palace in Lincoln, which has vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows or located just outside the city is the beautiful, independent Washingborough Hall a truly unique family run hotel. If self-catering is your thing, Apple Tree Cottage in Ropsley and Udder Barn, just down the road, makes for the perfect romantic getaway. Church Barn and Ancaster House are better for a slightly larger group. The properties featured here in the small village of Ropsley are stunning; this quaint, almost Dickensian hamlet has the excellent CAMRA award-winning pub The Green Man real ales, fabulous wine and incredible food.
